My approach:

NATURE-CENTERED LEARNING

Nature-centered learning is our emphasis! We have a preschool garden that the children plant, water, and tend to daily to nurture discovery centered around the Earth. During the winter months, we plant indoors with our very own preschool greenhouse. In addition to this, we have several "farm days" each month where we walk to the local farm at the end of our street to feed and see the farm animals. This method is not only fascinating and enjoyable for children, but offers many additional benefits including motor control, cognitive growth, delayed gratification practice, creativity, problem solving, and physical health encouragement.

Our nature-centered preschool curriculum works in the following areas for your child’s learning objectives and needs: pre-reading, pre-math, science, emotional and social growth, and physical health. To accomplish this, I cover a letter and number each week as well as a shape, pattern, color, and song of the month that coordinate with the crafts and stories we read.In conjunction with that, I use hands-on learning activities, arts and crafts, music, the outdoors, and nursery rhymes. I email out a monthly calendar with our learning themes and objectives for parents to practice with their children if they desire.
